Last month we were in the beautiful Adelaide Hills for the SA Medieval Fair. This was our first big event since Covid began. We had been training hard, and working on a lot of new gear. We had a pretty big disruption to our plans, in that our most senior horse in both experience and age, Ruby, suddenly passed away a couple of weeks before the event. So, we made the call to only take over 3 horse and rider teams.
It’s a big drive for the horses, taking a bit over 8 hours, but the 3 boys – Algernon, Percy and Phoebus, all travelled well.
It was great to be back doing equestrian events again, and everyone had a blast. Our 2 newest teams, Chris and Phoebus, and Ken and Percy, were exemplary. The horses took it all in their strides, and we could not be happier with them. Their joust passes were beautifully controlled, the boys did not get too excited, were happy to stand quietly at the start, run nice straight calm passes, and stop easily at the end, where they were given a little treat for their efforts. All our time, and effort really paid off.
As always, we could not do this without our amazing team of valets and grooms, along with our fantastic MC, and of course our photographers, Inquisitive Images, and Amber F Photographer who captured these wonderful moments for us.
Below are some links to their photos, please support their pages, they both do great work.
